Over 55,000 CROC Cancun Workers to Receive Profit-Sharing Payments
Mario Machuca Sánchez reports that working groups between employees and employers have already begun to review fiscal summaries.
The Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Peasants (CROC) in Cancun has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the timely distribution of profit-sharing payments among unionized workers, with disbursements set to begin in May. To this end, representatives of both employees and companies are currently holding meetings to analyze fiscal summaries.
Mario Machuca Sánchez, General Secretary of CROC Cancun, stated that since early April, union delegates have received training focused on identifying the appropriate time to demand labor benefits, one of which is profit sharing.
“In April, we provided specific training on how to interpret the fiscal summary, how to calculate commissions, and how the money should be distributed based on the time worked and each employee’s base salary,” Machuca Sánchez explained.
Currently, CROC Cancun represents more than 600 companies and safeguards the labor rights of over 55,000 workers, most of whom are in the tourism sector.
The union leader noted that most affiliated companies are expected to comply with this obligation on time, as mandated by the Constitution and the Federal Labor Law. He added that several companies already have their fiscal summaries ready and have begun the necessary processes to ensure timely payment, with some reaching the maximum limit of 90 days.
“We are aware of some companies that will be able to cover the full 90-day amount. However, we’ve also identified others that, although they have profits, these are not as high as in previous years. In such cases, the commission is now trained to manage formal requests that allow for bonuses to avoid a decrease in the distribution for workers,” he explained.
