The Colombian tennis player dominates the final and strengthens Cancún’s position as a world-class sports destination On a night filled with excitement and sporting spirit, the awards and closing ceremony of the Open Tennis Cancún WTA 125 took place, reaffirming the promotion of sports and sports tourism in the region. Colombian tennis player Emiliana Arango, ranked 169th in the world, was crowned champion of the WTA circuit after defeating Canadian Carson Branstine in two sets (6-2, 6-1). During the awards ceremony, it was highlighted that this tournament is more than just a competition, as it represents determination, effort, and fundamental values in sports. Free Highway Route (Not Recommended) The first option is the free highway from Cancún to Chichén Itzá, which takes approximately  3.5 hours . However, this route is  not very safe , so we don’t recommend it for travelers. 2. Toll Highway Direct Route (The Fastest) The second option is the toll highway from Cancún to Chichén Itzá, with an estimated travel time of  2.5 hours . This route is quick and comfortable, but the cost in 2025 is  $605 pesos  (around $32 USD). 3. Savings Hack: Combination of Toll Highway and Free Road If you're looking to save money, the best option is to combine the toll highway with the free road: Take the  toll highway from Cancún to Valladolid  (cost:  $385 pesos , $19 USD). The storm continues its eastward trajectory, posing a significant risk to the Yucatán coast. The Yucatán Peninsula, particularly its northern region, is on high alert due to the imminent arrival of severe weather conditions. Milton is currently located 240 kilometers west of Progreso, Yucatán. Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama has announced that the state is now under a Yellow Alert (moderate risk) for the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Isla Mujeres, Lázaro Cárdenas, Cozumel, and Puerto Morelos.
